Does food really affect skin?

Some links are well supported: high-GI, sugary diets and possibly large amounts of milk are associated with more acne, while diets rich in vegetables, fruit, omega-3 fats and water support healthy skin. Vitamin C is needed to make collagen. The generator removes sugary and high-GI items, favours fibre and vitamin-rich foods, and adds a daily vitamin C and water reminder.

Nutrient Skin benefit Sources
Vitamin C Collagen, repair Amla, guava, orange, capsicum, tomato
Vitamin A / beta-carotene Skin cell renewal Carrot, papaya, pumpkin, spinach
Omega-3 May calm inflammation Walnuts, flaxseed, fish
Zinc Healing, acne Seeds, dal, nuts
Water Hydration 8–10 glasses a day

Food is only part of the story: daily sunscreen, enough sleep, not smoking and a simple skincare routine matter as much. Persistent acne, especially with irregular periods or excess hair, can be a sign of PCOS — try the PCOS symptom checker.

Frequently asked questions

Which foods cause pimples?

High-GI and sugary foods and, for some people, large amounts of skimmed milk are linked with acne. Chocolate and oily food are less clearly linked.

What should I drink for glowing skin?

Water first. Coconut water, buttermilk and green tea are good options; skip sugary drinks.

How long does it take to see results?

Skin renews over about 4–6 weeks, so give diet changes at least 1–2 months.
