Free 7-day diet plan for irregular periods — regular, balanced low-GI meals with iron and healthy fats. Indian or global, veg, non-veg or Jain.
Can food fix irregular periods?
Food cannot cure the causes of irregular periods — such as PCOS, thyroid problems or high prolactin — but it matters more than many women think. Eating too little, sudden weight loss or intense exercise can stop ovulation, while being overweight and insulin resistance (as in PCOS) can also make cycles irregular. The generator builds regular, balanced low-GI meals with iron-rich foods, and adds a gentle deficit only if you choose weight loss.
When is a cycle irregular?
Sign
Typical
Cycle length
21–35 days in adults
Variation month to month
Up to about 7–9 days
See a doctor if
Cycles under 21 or over 35 days, no period for 3 months, bleeding between periods or very heavy bleeding
Helpful foods
Low-GI grains and millets — steady insulin
Iron-rich foods (dal, greens, eggs, meat) — heavy or long periods deplete iron
Healthy fats — nuts, seeds, fish
Enough total calories — skipping meals can delay ovulation
No single food brings periods on. Regular balanced meals, enough calories, a healthy weight and iron-rich foods support a regular cycle.
Can weight loss make periods irregular?
Yes. Rapid weight loss, very low calories or over-exercising can switch off ovulation. Periods usually return once intake and weight recover.
When should I see a doctor?
If you miss periods for 3 months (and are not pregnant), cycles are shorter than 21 or longer than 35 days, or you bleed between periods or very heavily.
