Indian Keto Diet Plan
Free 7-day Indian keto diet chart — very low carb veg and non-veg meals with paneer, eggs, nuts and low-carb vegetables. Includes who should not do keto.
What is a keto diet?
A ketogenic diet cuts carbohydrates to about 20–50 g a day — no rice, roti, sugar or most fruit — so the body burns fat and makes ketones. It can cause fast early weight loss (partly water) and lower blood sugar, but it is hard to sustain, and long-term studies do not show it beats other diets for weight loss. The generator uses a separate keto food list and a calorie deficit if you choose weight loss.
| Eat | Avoid |
|---|---|
| Paneer, cheese, eggs, chicken, fish | Rice, roti, bread, poha, upma |
| Low-carb vegetables: spinach, cauliflower, cabbage, capsicum, lauki, beans | Potato, sweet potato, corn, peas |
| Nuts and seeds, coconut | Sugar, jaggery, honey, sweets |
| Curd, cream, butter in moderation | Most fruit and all fruit juice |
| Olive, mustard or coconut oil | Dal and beans in large portions |
Who should not do keto
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women
- People with type 1 diabetes, or type 2 diabetes on insulin or sulfonylureas (risk of low sugar and ketoacidosis)
- Kidney disease, liver or pancreas disease, history of kidney stones
- People on blood-pressure medicines (keto lowers BP) and anyone with an eating disorder
Side effects in the first week (“keto flu”) — headache, tiredness, constipation — are common; drink water and get enough salt and fibre. A lower-carb but less extreme plan, like our diabetes or weight loss plans, is easier to keep up.
Frequently asked questions
Can vegetarians do keto in India?
Yes — using paneer, cheese, curd, nuts, seeds, tofu and low-carb vegetables — but it is restrictive and fibre can run low. Plan carefully.
How fast will I lose weight on keto?
Often 2–4 kg in the first week or two, mostly water. After that, fat loss depends on calories, as with any diet.
Is keto safe long term?
Long-term safety is not well established, and many people regain weight when they stop. Discuss with your doctor, and consider it short-term.
