Does diet affect IVF success?
Studies suggest that women who follow a Mediterranean-style diet — vegetables, fruit, whole grains, pulses, fish and olive oil — may have somewhat better IVF outcomes, and a healthy weight improves the chances. There is no magic food for implantation, and you do not need special diets like pineapple core or warm-food-only. The generator gives a balanced, pregnancy-safe plan (no raw papaya, raw eggs or high-mercury fish) with extra protein, folate and iron.
Before and after transfer
| Stage |
Focus |
| 3 months before |
Folic acid, healthy weight, stop alcohol and smoking (both partners), limit caffeine |
| During stimulation |
Regular meals, protein, plenty of fluids (helps with bloating) |
| After transfer |
Eat as for early pregnancy — balanced, pregnancy-safe, no dieting |
| Two-week wait |
Keep routine normal; avoid alcohol and unsafe foods |
If you feel very bloated, breathless or have severe tummy pain during stimulation, contact your clinic — it may be ovarian hyperstimulation. Work out your due date with the IVF due date calculator.
Frequently asked questions
What should I eat after embryo transfer?
The same balanced, pregnancy-safe meals you would eat in early pregnancy: vegetables, fruit, whole grains, dal, dairy, eggs or fish that are well cooked. No special foods are needed.
Is pineapple good after IVF transfer?
There is no good evidence that pineapple helps implantation. Normal portions are safe; large amounts are unnecessary.
Should my partner change his diet too?
Yes — a healthy diet, no smoking, less alcohol and a healthy weight improve sperm quality.
